Cathy Imwalle says:

our machine is only making ice on the far right …why would this do this?

lyksmusclemen says:

I repaired the tray that commonly cracks at the side and it worked fine for
a cpl of days but now when the water pump starts to fill tray it only fills
tray a bit and then the add water light comes on. Theres plenty available
water in reservoir so I don’t get why this light keeps coming on and
stopping ice making.

roberto burgos says:

hi all i might have a better solution than useing the epoxy being that it
sits in the water you really dont know what is being released by the epoxy
at is in turn in the ice.. i used some hotglur on the crack and a tiny zip
tie where the try gos on the moter worked great..good luck..

Margo Arnold says:

My Majic Chef, is not freezing properly. I have it set to make the largest
ice cubes, but it is making the smallest size and the ice is still clear. I
have changed the setting to make the different sizes and they are all the
same. Plus I have brown water stains. I wonder if it is something the city
puts in our water system that is messing up the freeze on my ice maker. The
ice maker is level and I use is all day every day. Can anyone advise me??

Don MacBeath says:

Was just about to ditch my machine and spend a couple of hundred on a new
one when I found your incredible video. Same machine, same problem.
Followed your fix to a T. and now have ice again! Mine is a Salton, but
identical to yours and also to Greenway and others – obviously a generic
made in China machine. Also, all obviously have the same defect – I believe
it happens not when a Hercules child or drunk spouse forces basket. but
when we let basket overload, cubes get caught under upper basket.

laughingkids says:

Thank you for this note! I had problems right away once I put it together.
Then I remembered this post about the motor cycling…so I just unhooked
the motor…let it cycle…in my hand…put the motor shaft back into the
Ice tray slot…and screwed in the motor’s screws. Works perfectly now!!
Thanks for saving me time and another motor!

2049bits says:

Great NEEDED video – Kudos! SIMULATE the tray triggering in the UP and DOWN
positions. The controller will drive the motor until it reads the proper
sequence from the microswitches. If the tray is IN and the motor is not
aligned by this procedure, you risk the motor OVERDRIVING THE TRAY AND
BREAKING IT AGAIN. Once the motor thinks it is in the Tray Up position,
note the angle of the motor’s drive and install the tray without upsetting
that angle in the Up Position. Sorry, limit on words.

ottokrieg says:

IT WORKS. Only thing that threw me off in the reassembly is I had to plug
in the unit to get the motor to cycle to the correct position. You saved me
some cash :]

timfischer says:

Just noticed my machine wasn’t working tonight. I took it apart and
although my problem is slightly different (and mine is a Magic Chef so
there are some minor disassembly differences) the basic problem is the same
– the plastic is stripped out. It appears I should be able to fix ours as
well. Thanks!

32f23f2 says:

Thanks that was very helpful. I have the exact same model and the white
plastic part that connects to the motor was demolished somehow. I am
finding a new piece of plastic to fit inside the metal bracket and glue
back on to it.

Jay Finke says:

YOU COULD USE FISH TANK SILICONE TO DO REPAIR, DRY UNIT WITH HAIR DRYER AND
USE POPSICLE STICK AND OR CLOTHS HANGER MAKES FOR A NICE BENDABLE TOOL TO
APPLY THE SILICONE IN THE HARD TO REACH PLACES, YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO DO
REPAIR WITH UNIT TOGETHER, .USE FOOD GRADE MATERIALS ONLY OTHER MATERIALS
MAY LEACH CHEMICALS THAT MIGHT MAKE YOU SICK OR WORSE !!! AND MAKE THE ICE
TASTE FUNNY. THE pool pump motor repair guy in longwood florida .. sorry
about the caps ..j

ottokrieg says:

Thanks for this tutorial. This is the second unit I’ve had break on me, but
now I know what to do. I used JB weld’s “WaterWeld” and I hope it holds. It
comes in a tube and you mash it together like playdoh and apply after
sanding. Once again thanks and kudos to your gf for helping.

MyMoxxy says:

Alternatively we ordered the new replacement part from the manufacturer fro
$13.50 and it shipped in 1 day. (Salton in Canada) Very helpful video for
disassembly and put together! Thank you!

EurekaRecycler says:

You should not turn a compressor upside down. And if you do leave it set
upright for twice as long as you tipped it, good luck. Thanks

SuperVectors says:

@specialks1953 Absolutely right!

1backhoe1 says:

thanks … i have the same unit and the same damage … i did the repair as
you asked … worked great … but … i added some “fiber tape” to the
glue ( home depot has it , fiberglass drywall tape) ….

THEtechknight says:

gorilla glue fixes all…………

roberto burgos says:

@c00l0ne update.. tightlly wraped fishing wire works well also if a ziptie
isnt avalible..

cherrywrecker says:

JB WELD! It takes 24 hours to dryYou will NEVER have to re-glue it EVER
AGAIN! JB WELD. Wal Mart, in the automotive section. Two part epoxy- dries
gray. DO NOT get JB Quick. Matter-of-fact, I GUARENTEE you will never have
to glue it again!

Richie Williams says:

Would just Like to say a HUGE “THANK YOU” exact same fault and make and
model as mine. All fixed thank’s to you. Cheers from England !

NOTORIOUSCARCLUB says:

my unit is from edgestar.. and when u first turn it on. it makes noise like
if its sucking the water … for like 15 secs. then the add water light
comes on.. do u know why…

koolio999 says:

and good to go 🙂

BlueJade07 says:
